OEM Engineering Technician Apprentice - Dublin Locations 2025
Our apprenticeships are aimed at people who have a passion for learning and want to start a career now – or possibly retrain in a new direction. Amazon offers a range of opportunities to suit candidates with different backgrounds, qualifications, and career aspirations. Our European Operations Teams are crucial in ensuring that we continue to deliver and innovate for customers. We have big plans and want to continue to develop and retain the best talent.
To be successful, you will need to be committed to your own development and be prepared to make the most of the opportunities, hands-on experience, and qualifications given to you.
Core Components of the Apprenticeship
During your apprenticeship, you will acquire valuable skills and knowledge, including:
1. All aspects of the role of a multi-skilled maintenance technician, covering mechanical, electrical, controls, and fluid power skills knowledge and safety behaviours.
2. Building your skills over a 36-month period starting in September, which will include:
1. Classroom-based training hosted offsite
2. On-the-job training program, delivered by our specialist teams
3. Mentoring from our RME engineers
Alongside extensive development of your technical skills, you will also grow your abilities in crucial complementary areas like organization, prioritization, data analysis, problem-solving techniques, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
The first 16 weeks of each year will be full-time residential (classroom training) at one of our training providers' facilities. You may be required to travel to the accommodation on a Sunday and work away from home until Friday each week during term-time (costs will be supported by Amazon), combined with short periods working at one of our Fulfilment Centres/Sort Centres/Delivery Stations. Subsequent years will comprise on-the-job training in a Fulfilment Centre while concurrently completing academic training. Not only will you receive invaluable learning, development, and professional experience, but you will also gain a number of externally recognized qualifications.
Key Job Responsibilities
As an OEM apprentice, you will work in our Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) team and with one of our national engineering apprenticeship providers to build your engineering skills, knowledge, and behaviours over a 3-year period. Apprentices based in Ireland will spend the first 16 weeks of each year at a training centre. Working Monday to Friday each week, during your time at the training centre you will undertake a wide range of engineering skills in mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and controls disciplines, as well as commencing your academic studies. All travel, accommodation, and associated costs during this period of training will be covered by Amazon. During the remainder of the year, you will be based at one of our facilities (fulfilment centre, sortation centre, or delivery station). Working alongside skilled engineers, you will put into practice the core skills that you have learned and build on these as you learn the role of a maintenance engineer at Amazon.
