Cardiothoracic / Neuro Outpatient Department Manager
Band 7, full time, 5 days per week, Monday - Friday
We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to step into the role as the Cardiothoracic/ Neurology Outpatient Department Manager.
We are looking for a 1st level Registered Nurse with a real passion for Outpatients who is committed to taking this service forward for the future of our services.
Main duties of the job
The Post holder will work closely with the Matron and Service Manager ensuring that patients receive high quality care across both the Neuro and Cardio outpatient departments, providing clinical and operational leadership for the departments. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of outpatient operational performance, working alongside the clinical directors and service managers to ensure that outpatient performance targets and high quality patient care is achieved and sustained.
The Post Holder will ensure that effective staffing levels and skill mix are used to service all clinical specialties accessing the departments. Additionally, the Post holder will plan the day-to-day running of the outpatient departments, coordinating clinical services and resources to effectively manage the departments.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* First level degree in the nursing discipline and record of continuous personal, professional and academic development.
* Or a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE), Foundation Degree Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least 2 years demonstrable, equivalent specialist experience.
* Recognised teaching/mentorship qualification.
* Basic Life support.
* Customer Care Qualification.
* LEO, LWAP or Management equivalent leadership certificate.
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Evidence of further professional development.
* An awareness of Government Documents / Policies in relation to changes within the National Health Service.
* In-depth knowledge of traumatic brain injury and effects on patients and carers.
* Significant experience of the recommended management and rehabilitation of patients with brain injuries.
* Awareness of strategic issues which influence management of patients with brain injuries.
* Knowledge of NICE guidelines for management of brain injury.
* Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
* Evidence of Information Technology Skills.
* Sound word processing, report writing and presentational skills.
Experience
* Relevant post-registration experience in acute adult setting.
* Relevant clinical and managerial experience.
* Experience in managing people, budgets, time, facilities and equipment.

* Relevant clinical knowledge/experience relating to a wide range of specialties.
