Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team, responsible for providing comprehensive support to unaccompanied asylum seeking children. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping these children adjust to their new environment, ensuring their safety, and promoting their emotional and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support: Provide day-to-day care and supervision for unaccompanied asylum seeking children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
2. Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to help children deal with the trauma and stress of their experiences, facilitating access to mental health services as needed.
3. Education and Integration: Assist children in accessing educational opportunities and encourage participation in social, cultural, and recreational activities to aid their integration into the community.
4. Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of the children to ensure they receive appropriate services and support, including health care, education, and legal assistance.
5. Development and Monitoring: Develop and implement individual care plans tailored to each child's needs, and monitor progress, adjusting plans as necessary.
6. Communication: Maintain regular communication with social workers, legal representatives, educational institutions, and other relevant agencies to coordinate care and support.
7. Cultural Sensitivity: Promote and respect cultural, linguistic, and religious differences, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all children.
8. Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate and detailed records of each child's progress, incidents, and any other relevant information, providing reports as required.
Qualifications
1. Education: GCSE/ A-Level's preferred
2. Experience: Previous experience working with vulnerable children, particularly unaccompanied asylum seekers or refugees, is highly desirable.
3. Skills:
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Ability to build trusting relationships with children.
6. Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by asylum seeking children.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
8. Good organizational and time management skills.

Additional Requirements
1. Background Checks: Enhanced DBS check (or equivalent) is required.

3. Availability: 40 hrs per week with occasional on-call weekends.
