The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Vocational and Apprenticeship Coordinator, working within our People Directorate. This post is hybrid/home working on a temporary basis to cover Maternity Leave. This is a full-time opportunity, working 35 hours per week.
The successful individual will support the provision of our Modern Apprenticeships and SVQ pathways across the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. This will require engagement across People, Training and Service Delivery colleagues to support and embed all areas of apprenticeship and SVQ programme activity. The VAC will ensure that systems and processes are both compliant and effectively established/developed and will also be responsible for coordinating and monitoring data across the programmes, acting as a coach to assessors and verifiers.
Previous experience of managing SQA programme delivery and assessment is essential to the role. Applicants are also required to possess L&D 9D1 Assessor and L&D 11 Verifier Award qualifications (or equivalent) and be competent in the use and assessment of National Occupational Standards. The successful individual will be experienced in the development and delivery of training courses, a creative problem-solver, have excellent attention to detail and be highly competent in the use of Microsoft Officer (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). A current driving licence and an ability to travel through Scotland is also required.
Experience of developing and delivering Assessor & Verifier training programmes, and a knowledge and experience of SQA Registration, Entry and Result Procedures is desirable, but not essential.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
This post is also subject to the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exclusions and Exemptions) Scotland Order. Therefore, the successful candidate's will be subject to a Standard Disclosure record check through Disclosure Scotland.
