An established and growing Oxford firm is currently recruiting for an experienced PSV Technician or HGV Mechanic / Fitter with 5+ years' experience.
This position is for the maintenance, repair, and refitting of coaches and light commercial fleet of vans with a large and busy company.
You will be joining an excellent and experienced maintenance team maintaining vehicles in their warm, tidy, organized purpose-built workshops, located in Oxfordshire.
Duties will include:
1. Carrying out vehicle servicing in accordance with company policy.
2. Carrying out Periodic Maintenance Inspections and repairs to both company and DVSA standards.
3. Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOTs.
4. Diagnosing vehicle faults and specifying the correct method of repair and warranty claims in line with terms.
5. Ensuring correct paperwork is completed and accurate records are maintained in a timely manner.
6. Adhering to good housekeeping practices including general tidiness in the workshop and return of all tools and equipment to their designated place.
7. Attending on-road vehicle breakdowns.
8. Carrying out vehicle road testing where necessary to determine specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.
9. Complying with Health and Safety policy and guidance documents.
10. Adopting methods of safe working.
Experience and qualities:
1. Level 3 NVQ in PSV or HGV maintenance, repair and diagnostics or equivalent.
2. Minimum 5 years industry experience of both mechanical and electrical systems.
3. PSV licence would also be desirable (but not essential).
4. Welding experience would also be desirable.
5. Proven knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
6. Ability to work effectively unsupervised, use own initiative and remain focused and consistent with a 'can do' attitude.
The position is 45 hours per week, 7.30am - 4.30pm with some overtime offered/required in busy periods. Salary is £48,000 - £52,000 depending on experience. Further ongoing training opportunities are provided if required, along with a pension scheme and a great team environment.
