The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Casualty Treaty Underwriter to play a key part in contributing to the profitable development and maintenance of a high-profile lead book of Casualty & Professional Lines Treaty business for UK, London Market and Global clients. A great opportunity to join an established leading team in the London Market working with many talented individuals. You will have exposure to large accounts in a lead capacity giving you the opportunity to learn, network and develop at Everest.
This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.
Responsibilities
* Maintain, develop, and profitably underwrite a significant book of Casualty and Professional Lines Treaty business for Domestic, Lloyd’s and Global clients.
* Assess the suitability of risks considering cycle and exposure management and above all profitability.
* Maintain a focus on building and strengthening Everest’s relationships with clients and brokers.
* Prospect, cultivate, and produce new business.
* Interact and collaborate with all functional areas of the company including actuarial, contract wording, finance, legal and claims departments.
* Market Everest to reinsurance brokers and current/prospective clients through production calls, attending industry events and participation in conferences/seminars.
* Schedule, organize, and conduct underwriting audits for both new and existing accounts.
* Monitor account performance and assist with accumulation management.
* Maintain an understanding of all current issues affecting the insurance and reinsurance industries as well as Casualty and Professional Lines business.
* Participate in the annual planning process and development of department goals.
* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior underwriters regarding the Company’s corporate mission, culture, performance goals, profitability, and technical underwriting.
* Collaborate with colleagues in London and throughout the group demonstrating teamwork.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
* Experience underwriting, or moving towards authority, Casualty and Professional Lines of business in the London reinsurance market.
* Experience in the analysis and understanding of reinsurance contract terms and conditions is required.
* Excellent marketing skills are required to develop and maintain relationships with clients and brokers.
* Strong interpersonal, analytical and report writing skills and the ability to flourish in a collaborative team environment.
* Be self-motivated and independent while maintaining underwriting discipline to achieve strategic objectives.
* Ability to stay organized within a fast-paced, team-oriented and high-intensity work environment with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
* Educated to degree level is required and ACII is desired.
