Job Description
Our customer, a British company in the travel industry is looking for a 8+ PQE in-house Senior Legal Counsel for a permanent role based in Luton.
You will be part of the small but mighty legal team, providing business-savvy, pragmatic support to all areas of the business, but with a particular focus on commercial and contractual matters.
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
* 8+ PQE UK qualified corporate or commercial lawyer (or non-UK equivalent).
* Significant In-house experience (whether by working in-house or through a client secondment).
* A well-rounded professional who can navigate complex business environments and contribute meaningfully beyond just their primary expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* This role will provide vital legal support to the business, working as a member of a highly regarded legal team which is responsible for the provision of commercially-minded legal advice and support to the business.
* In particular, this role will provide support to the Strategy, Sustainability, Treasury, Fleet, Engineering & Maintenance and Facilities teams, with the opportunity to support other areas when the need arises.
* Supporting on strategic corporate projects such as acquisitions, disposals, investments, partnerships, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, etc,
* Advising the Treasury team on customer's payments arrangements, financing and security arrangements (EMTN programme, secured loans, etc.) and hedging arrangements.
In collaboration with their ESG lawyer, work with the Sustainability team to achieve these objectives:
* Advising the Fleet team and the Fleet Transactions teams on transactions relating to our fleet-related suppliers and our lessors.
* Supporting the business with the procurement of goods and services (particularly in relation to engineering & maintenance and fuel (including SAF)) by providing end-to-end support on Requests for Proposals and the selection and appointment of new suppliers, negotiating agreements and advising on issues relating to supplier relationship management.
* This role will support the Facilities Team to manage that property portfolio which may include negotiating leases and licences, negotiating consents or resolving disputes with landlords.
* Along with other members of the legal team, supporting the Senior Legal Leadership Team with continuous team improvement initiatives.
