We are seeking a Technical Manager for a 1-year maternity cover for a food manufactuer based oin East Lothian.
In this role, you will work closely with our directors to support our ongoing business growth and help achieve BRC accreditation. The ideal candidate will have a solid food safety background, excellent communication skills, and prior experience with BRC standards.
Hours:
* The role is part-time (25 hours work per week).
* Working days can be flexible to suit (between Mon and Fri)
Salary:
* £22,000 - £25,000 per annum (£35-40k pro rata) potentially more depending on experience
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in Food Manufacturing
* A degree or equivalent experience in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
* Technical Expertise:
* Advanced Food Hygiene certification.
* Level 3 HACCP qualification.
* Practical knowledge of allergen management.
* Experience maintaining internal audit programs and Quality Management Systems.
* Proven success in delivering BRC certification or equivalent standards.
* Familiarity with applying food legislation in a manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure operational processes and finished goods production comply with HACCP, food safety, and customer standards.
* Maintain food safety and quality governance to ensure compliance with internal, external, legal, and customer audit requirements.
* Handle customer complaints and non-conformances, taking corrective actions and maintaining thorough records.
* Implement and manage a testing schedule, analysing results for continuous improvement.
* Represent the company during customer visits, audits, and reviews with accrediting bodies and Environmental Health Officers (EHOs).
* Foster a culture of food safety and continuous improvement within the production team.
* Develop, implement, and maintain our Food Safety and Quality Management System, providing critical insights for audits and senior management decision-making.
