About the School
This fantastic school is an independent special needs school for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. All school staff, including teaching, pastoral and therapy, work in a collaborative way. The school works hard to ensure students develop emotionally and personally, as well as academically. Students have needs including ADHD, ASD, Asperger’s or SEMH. This is an independent school for children aged 6 to 16 years old with a beautiful working environment and the very best facilities.
About the Role
* This school is seeking a teaching assistant who is open to working with children from age 6 to 16. There will be an opportunity to discuss your strengths and which children, ages, and needs are the best match for you.
You will need to be resilient and dedicated. You will receive on-the-job training including opportunities for CPD. All staff receive full school holidays. The school requires a well-qualified teacher of English who has experience teaching in the UK. At least one year of experience working as a Teaching Assistant in Special needs or mainstream is essential. Experience working in a SEN is not essential. You will be required to work both one-to-one and in small groups.
You should have strong knowledge of effective relational behaviour management strategies for students with SEND, communication challenges, and complex behaviours. You should have resilience, stamina, and adaptability with excellent interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm to work as part of a team is essential. The suitable teaching assistant will have a proven ability to achieve positive outcomes for students. Experience in assisting the teacher in creating engaging lessons and helping to contribute to curriculum development is essential.
