Temporary Central Services Administrator

Pay Rate: £12.57 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 10 months

NPPV Level 2 Vetting
NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 3 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.
Your role is to provide general and specific administrative support to the Central Services Department.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer fob access and issue ID cards for personnel and visitors, ensuring compliance with Force Policy and escalating security concerns.
Sort and process incoming mail, including x-ray scanning of external mail and handling suspicious packages according to Force Policy.
Sort internal mail for distribution, assist with dispatch van loading/unloading, and drive vans to local sites for mail collection.
Act as the point of contact for courier deliveries and assist with sending items externally, maintaining records for recharging.
Process and frank mail efficiently, selecting cost-effective options and reporting non-work-related mail to the Facilities Support Team Leader.
Manage security procedures for handling specialist or sensitive items to ensure safe transportation and preserve the evidential chain.
Maintain equipment in the post rooms and ensure regular vehicle checks, ensuring all maintenance is conducted per Force Policy.
Key requirements:
Good standard of education including proven numeracy & literacy skills.
Full UK Driving License to enable travel around the Force to different locations.
Good administrative skills in relation to record-keeping and following standard operating procedure.
IT literate, including recent experience of using Microsoft packages.
As this is a physically active role, the post holder will be expected to lift/move heavy objects, both to waist & shoulder height. Satisfactory completion of a manual handling course will be required (training given), and appropriate PPE provided.
Desirable:
Knowledge of geographical locations & Force Departments.
Knowledge of Force policies around Protective Security, Information Management and Driving.
Proven post room experience, including knowledge of products & services together with courier options to provide advice on the most cost effective means of postal services.
