Job Overview
Due to the expansion of Brainkind's Award-Winning Brain Injury Linkworker (BIL) Service, we are delighted to advertise for a principal psychologist to join our team. The BIL neurorehabilitation service is provided in seven prison and probation establishments across England and Wales and is currently expanding to work in the Northwest of England. This is a remote working position with travel to services as required. The post holder will have clinical and research responsibilities, primarily supervising our linkworkers and supporting the wider team to develop the service.
Supervision and Collaboration
The role is supervised by the consultant clinical neuropsychologist and works closely with the BIL project manager to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the service. MAIN PURPOSE:
To work as a key member of the Brain Injury Linkworker Service clinical team, providing clinical psychology and neuropsychological supervision to the Brain Injury Linkworkers, who deliver neurorehabilitation to people in prison and on probation. To be involved in maintaining and developing service delivery protocols. To assist in the ongoing evaluation of the service and any other relevant research projects. To provide specialist neuropsychological expertise and oversight to all aspects of the service.
To provide Brain Injury Awareness training to people working across the criminal justice system, adapting training resources as required. To be involved in promotion of the service presenting at events and conferences. To write articles for publication and develop new research ideas. To support the consultant clinical neuropsychologist and project manager in the development of new BIL services.
To provide strategic, professional leadership to the multi/interdisciplinary team within the Social Change and Policy Team, Brainkind, ensuring the planning and development of a systematic response to service need. To interpret professional policies, ensuring that the services operate at the highest level of quality and current best practice. Research and development will be a major responsibility as will taking a major role in the development and implementation of policy for the service system as a whole.
To provide clinical services at a high level of expertise, supporting and advising colleagues on all issues concerned with neuropsychological clinical practice and providing expert clinical consultation and professional guidance to clinical neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists and other clinicians within Brainkind. To provide clinical leadership and direction for the Brain Injury Linkworker service.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To ensure the development of high quality, innovative, and evidence-based neuropsychological rehabilitation practice within Brainkind. To support the Service Manager/Registered Manager/Regional Manager in all aspects of managing the service.
To externally represent and promote Brainkind’s approach to psychology. To work with the service and regional managers to strategically promote appropriate referrals to the service, with development of clinical governance in line with Brainkind policies and directives.
ABOUT YOU:
* Good honours degree in Psychology i.e. 2 ii or above.
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or its equivalent to meet requirements to register as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC.
* Registered Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC.
* Post Graduate training in Neuropsychology through an accredited route for the QiCN (e.g. PG Dip).
* Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist including substantial experience as a highly specialist/senior clinical psychologist within a neuropsychology setting.
* Significant, evidenced experience of Brain Injury Rehabilitation, including clinical responsibility for challenging behaviour cases.
* Substantial experience and skills in managing qualified clinical psychologists and other clinical staff.
