Job Overview
The Ministry of Defense is seeking an experienced General Practitioner (GP) to join our dedicated healthcare team, providing essential medical services to armed forces personnel, their dependents, and select civilian staff. This role is a unique opportunity to support the health and readiness of those who serve, ensuring they receive high-quality primary care. The successful candidate will work within a well-equipped, multidisciplinary medical team focused on proactive and responsive healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive primary care services, including routine consultations, acute illness treatment, chronic disease management, and preventive health screenings.
* Conduct thorough assessments and treatments for service personnel, including physical and mental health evaluations to ensure operational readiness.
* Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of military personnel, considering the physical demands and requirements of service roles.
* Liaise with specialists, physiotherapists, mental health professionals, and other medical staff to coordinate patient care and follow-up as required.
* Participate in occupational health assessments to evaluate fitness for duty, pre-deployment medicals, and return-to-work assessments post-deployment.
* Provide emergency care when required, including first-line trauma and life support in line with Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent certifications.
* Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and timely patient records in line with MoD standards and regulations.
* Engage in clinical audits, participate in continuous professional development, and adhere to evidence-based medical guidelines.
* Support health education and promotion initiatives for military personnel, focusing on lifestyle, injury prevention, and mental resilience.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Medical Degree from a recognized institution and full registration with the [relevant medical authority, e.g., GMC (General Medical Council) in the UK].
* Completion of GP Specialty Training with relevant certification (e.g., MRCGP or equivalent).
* Valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certification or equivalent, with a strong understanding of emergency care protocols.
* Experience in Occupational Health is desirable, particularly in assessing fitness for work, pre-deployment, and return-to-duty assessments.
* Familiarity with the specific health concerns of military populations, including musculoskeletal injuries, mental health issues, and physical fitness.
* Proficient in electronic patient record systems and maintaining high standards of clinical documentation.

* Participation in military health or defense medical organizations and experience with military health systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £60.00-£70.00 per hour
