Responsibilities:
1. Raise raw material purchase orders according to the requirements of the ERP.
2. Send out RFQ to Supplier Base and if necessary negotiate price and delivery.
3. In conjunction with other team members identify improvement activities within purchasing / material functions to improve efficiency with department paying particular attention to stock reduction, supplier lead reductions and stock availability.
4. Share in departmental objectives and initiatives.
5. To provide input to production meetings to ensure material availability in support of production requirements.
6. Execute the sourcing process and manage ERP transactions.
7. Use the ERP system in an optimal way to maximise internal transactional efficiency and minimise total costs, adopting ‘best practice’ and contributing to their improvement.
8. Participate in business reviews with the suppliers / customers ensuring that both suppliers and internal requirements are being met.
9. Support material quotations when necessary and other duties within the department.
10. Address day-to-day challenges as they arise.
11. Work additional hours if required within the business.
Qualifications:
12. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of previous experience in a manufacturing procurement role.
13. Good IT skills required including knowledge of Excel and ERP systems required.
14. Demonstrate effectiveness in teamwork and communications in a manufacturing organisation with procurement, suppliers, manufacturing assembly operations and engineering.
15. Able to make effective decisions and to work within tight deadlines.
16. Knowledge of various manufacturing and assembly processes with experience in engineering and advantage.
17. Good problem solving skills.
18. Good people skills.
19. Must be customer focused and have a sound appreciation of internal and external customers.
20. Must be proactive, methodical and systematic in approach.
21. Results driven - must be able to set, monitor and appropriately manage the achievement of own targets.
22. Approachable and supportive, able to build and maintain collaborative productive relationships.
23. Ideally a member of CIPS.
24. Educated to GCSE standard including Maths and English A - C.
25. A knowledge of the Company’s products & markets would be a distinct advantage.
