What you’ll be doing:
* Designing submarinestructures by calculation to ensure they meet the required loadcases and safety factors
Analysing submarine structuresthrough Finite Element Analysis Working alongside otherengineering disciplines to deliver integrated systemsolutions Gathering evidence to demonstratecompliance of these solutions with safety, function and performancerequirements Authoring and reviewing design andanalysis reports Responding to build issues throughcollaboration with Operations and ConstructionEngineering Presenting work to design reviewpanels and key stakeholders
Your skills andexperiences:
Essential
* Degreeor equivalent experience in a STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
Analytical structuralcalculation skills Chartered or workingtowards Demonstrable StructuralEngineering experience
Desirable
* Submarine, Shipbuilding, Aeronautical or Civil structuraldesign/analysis experience
Familiar with PressureVessel Codes PD5500/ASME, fatigue analysis code BS 7608, andStructural Design code BS 5950 Familiar with Naval designstandards Finite Element Analysis(FEA) knowledge Welding/Non-DestructiveExamination (NDE) knowledge

The Structural Engineering team: As a StructuralEngineer, you will be working with various multi-functional teamsto determine the best integrated solutions across multiplesubmarine programmes. You will engage regularly with industrialpartners and liaise with specialists to agree technical solutionsthat contribute to the success of our programmes. You will beresponsible for a range of submarine structures, from major piecesof equipment, such as the pressure hull to minor pieces ofequipment such as seats. This role willprovide you with the opportunity to learn new skills and acquirespecialist knowledge. You will be working within a unique andexciting engineering environment that is rivalled by no other inthe current market.
