Are you interested in overseeing the delivery of exciting, innovative flood risk and habitat creation projects in Devon and Cornwall?
Either as a Senior Project Manager or Project Executive, you will play a prominent role within our high performing, collaborative project teams.
You’ll have complete accountability for some impressive and challenging projects, often focused on our flood risk asset management programme. You will be a role model as a talented expert who is a trusted source of advice. You will be a dedicated mentor and hold a business portfolio in an area you are passionate about. You will also have demonstrated exceptional commercial acumen in contract management and developing effective and trusting supply partner relationships.
Naturally, you will build excellent collaborative relationships, shaping thinking at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction, and delivery. Your role as an outstanding communicator, collaborator and influencer will be critical to the success of the high performing teams, leading and inspiring the integrated project team including our supply partners.
The variety of the role is wide and exciting; leading multimillion-pound contract negotiations one day, talking to local communities the next. The role will involve key contract management activities, report writing, cost monitoring and forecasting, feasibility assessment, outline design, environmental management, and construction management.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
We are the Programme and Contracts Management team (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. You will become part of an award-winning team that provides areas, alongside national services, and centres, with an effective project and programme management service. Our dedicated, well-qualified teams manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver environmental improvements, adding value and resulting in a greater sense of shared ownership with local communities.
Experience/skills required
The following are essential for the role:
• Significant project, contract and programme management experience in engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
• Experience delivering complex, high-risk projects through co-ordination of diverse teams.
• Established interpersonal and influencing skills, managing internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and develop project teams and bring strategic thinking which improves processes and team behaviours.
• An area of expertise (eg hydrology, river modelling, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, CDM, design or construction).
• Chartered membership of a professional body (eg ICE, CIWEM, APMP).
• Qualification (e.g. Degree) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline.
