The role
Our Senior System Engineers (SSE) work on and lead a number of technical projects, ensuring solutions are pragmatic and offer improved services to the customer whilst aligning with our strategy, policies and procedures. The SSE team is divided into communities, each with their own specific area of expertise, executing different parts of the project plan: EUC, Business Applications, Network, Infrastructure Resilience, and Infrastructure. This role sits within the Infrastructure community, supporting the migration to robust solutions for on-prem and cloud infrastructure. This role will require active participation in and outside of your aligned community and continuous focus on process improvement and professional development.
Role responsibilities
1. Design and provision of IT solutions including full lifecycle mergers and acquisition (M&A) projects.
2. Evaluate changes and provide solutions for Stakeholder review.
3. Adhere to and ensure the enforcement of all business policies.
4. Create and maintain documentation, including systems configuration, processes, knowledge articles, test and project plans.
5. Escalate issues to the Technical Team Lead/Project Manager.
6. Work with the wider IT Teams to drive integration from an application perspective.
Skills and experience required
1. Proven experience and understanding of all Windows Operating Systems and Active Directory management (including Group Policy, login scripts, and roles).
2. Experience of cloud technologies including Azure, and/or AWS.
3. Experience of VMWare, including maintenance and provisioning.
4. Working knowledge of core networking services - e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RDP, SNMP, LDAP, Kerberos.
5. NAS / SAN storage infrastructures.
6. Experience of Automated Monitoring and Alerting.
7. Previous end-to-end execution of IT Infrastructure projects is a must!
