Business Support Officer Rutland Contract £11.44 per hour Our client is looking for an experienced Business Support Officer. Purpose of the Job: To provide support across Social Care and Family help supporting teams to implement support for children and young people. To support teams by providing comprehensive and confidential administrative support and customer service Main Responsibilities 1. To provide efficient, comprehensive and confidential administrative support service to social care and family help services to support them in the delivery of their duties and functions, whilst maintaining the highest possible standards of customer service. 2. To help maintain accurate records including data entry onto children’s services data bases. 3. Act as front-line admin support, in addition to acting as first point of contact for the service, and undertake the following duties: diary management, planning, arranging and managing events, responding to letters, emails, and telephone calls, maintaining accurate and complete records, drafting documents and responding promptly to enquiries and complaints all whilst maximising the use of available technology. 4. Support the team, from Head of Service, Service Manager and Team Managers through all grades of the service in the delivery of its objectives demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude and adopting a flexible and resourceful approach. 5. To deal with telephone, electronic and personal enquiries from members of the public, taking messages and acting appropriately, and referring matters where this is required. 6. To exercise proper care in handling, operating and safeguarding any equipment, vehicle or appliance provided, used or issued by the Council or provided or issued by a third party for individual or collective use in the performance of your duties. Act in accordance with the principles set out in the Employee Code of Conduct and the Council’s Values, recognising the duty of all public sector employees to discharge public functions reasonably and according to the law. Take reasonable care for your health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by the performance of your duties. Where appropriate safeguard the health and safety of all persons and premises under your control and guidance in accordance with the provisions of Health and Safety legislation and Rutland County Council’s and Directorate codes of practice and procedures. Essential Skills: Educated to A/Level standard or equivalent qualification or have recent relevant experience Recent experience of working with services or agencies supporting children and young people with a social worker. Experience of working in a multi-professional setting, with an understanding of the range of relevant services that may be involved with children with a social worker. Evidence of working in partnership to improve access to advice or guidance for a specific cohort of children, for example children from service families or children in care High level of written and oral communication skills; confident in delivery to a range of audiences Confident in the use of web-based programmes and social media platforms as an effective communication tool Confidence and competence in record Ability to communicate with a wide audience agencies in a professional and confident manner Excellent report writing skills Excellent organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and work to deadlines Able to keep self-motivated, driven, organised and structured without close day to day supervision Ability to maintain accurate electronic filing systems, databases and maximising the use of available technology Able to recognise discrimination and be proactive in ensuring the Council’s policy is put into practice. Highly motivated and robust under pressure. Able to bring energy, vitality and challenge to the team Willingness to engage in professional development as identified Flexible in working patterns to fulfil commitments of the role and team. Willingness and ability to visit education sites as and when required.
