Position Overview:
We are looking for a Principal Software Tester to lead the software testing activities for the M-ARS (Maintenance - Automatic Route Setting) system in the UK and Ireland. This pivotal role involves ensuring the quality and performance of the M-ARS Automatic Route Setting system through comprehensive testing strategies, specifications, and execution processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the software testing activities related to the M-ARS Automatic Route Setting system.
2. Develop test strategies and specifications to guide all testing activities.
3. Create, execute, and manage test scripts and scenarios to validate system performance.
4. Produce detailed test reports outlining findings and recommendations.
5. Ensure the delivery of standardized objectives and optimal system solutions on allocated projects.
6. Focus on the reliability, maintainability, and safety principles of the M-ARS product.
7. Ensure conformity of the M-ARS product to systems standards, agreed architecture, client standards, and company procedures.
8. Support safety assurance on allocated projects/products, including developing Generic and Specific Application Safety Cases.
9. Collaborate with the Systems Engineering Manager to establish best practices in testing.
10. High level of computer and software literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows System and Domain Administration.
11. Experience in software testing, including unit, component, and integration testing methodologies.
12. Strong ability to liaise with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and project delivery teams.
13. Excellent organizational skills and decision-making abilities.
14. Proficient in technical report writing.
Qualifications:
1. MSc or BSc in an engineering-related subject, preferably in software engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
1. Good knowledge of client and systems standards and relevant legislation.
2. Familiarity with the UK railway safety approval processes, including EN50128.
3. Strong understanding of systems engineering principles with the ability to develop relevant systems and software tools.
4. Commercial and financial awareness.
5. Knowledge of Virtualization and Cloud Technologies.
6. Previous experience working in a railway control systems engineering environment.
