Laboratory Technician - Arla Foods Aylesbury
Location: Aylesbury, GB
Introduction
As an Arla Laboratory Technician at our Aylesbury Dairy, you will analyse and evaluate products and materials to ensure that quality and approved analysis standards are met.
You will monitor the Laboratory quality system compliance and effectiveness through planned audits and independent process control checks to ensure that our products comply with food safety legislation, meet the technical and quality specification and are manufactured at best cost.
So what do our Laboratory Technicians actually do?
1. Sampling raw materials, manufacturing process and finished goods in terms of chemical and microbiological analysis.
2. Micro analysis of samples as per specified methods.
3. Carry out product sensory panels to meet requirements.
4. Ensure that all quality and food safety checks are carried out satisfactorily.
5. Inform Technical Team of results outside specification for instigation of corrective actions.
6. Control of the Non-conformance data base.
7. Ensure that all tasks are completed daily/weekly/monthly as per schedule.
8. Control Training Matrix and ensure that all trainings are up to date.
9. Ensure that all Laboratory Documents are up to date.
10. Ensure compliance against laboratory standards and procedures.
11. Ensure that all analytical equipment is maintained and calibrated to the required standards and schedules.
12. Ensure raw materials & chemicals used within laboratory are within acceptable date criteria.
What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role
1. Practical experience of Good Laboratory Practices.
2. Microbiology testing experience is preferred but not essential.
3. Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment working within QA / Sensory.
4. Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to interact with multiple levels within the business as well as with external contractors.
7. PC literate with the ability to interpret analytical and microbiological data.
8. Working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
9. Excellent attention to detail.
10. Ability to work on the shift pattern (12h day shift including weekends and Bank holidays).
11. Ability to be on the “On Call roster” for the weekend cover.
