About the role:
We are looking for Adult Learning Support Assistant to join our Additional Support Department based at Bedford College. As a Adult Learning Support Assistant you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students by:
Facilitating and managing adult student cohorts to complete the Cognassist assessment at the start of the learner journey.
Being responsible for providing monthly support meeting to learners who have matched on the Cognassist assessment recording in the Cognassist platform.
Being an active member of the ALS Team and to assist in the development of adult students’ skills and strategies to support their progress and achievement.
Managing a case load of approximately 300 learners
Delivering presentations on how Cognassist works to adult students and facilitate student cohorts to complete the Cognassist assessment
Scheduling monthly meeting for “matched” Cognassist students on a one-to-one basis to complete a reflection note of student engagement and impact of Cognassist strategies
Attending regular meetings to provide information for review and evaluation purposes
Maintaining appropriate records as required by the College e.g., Cognassist system notes and record, progress reports etc
Working collaboratively with Curriculum delivery teams to encourage student engagement in Cognassist to support students’ attainment and progression
Providing assistance at College functions e.g. open days ad inductions
Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare vulnerable adults in line with the area and College policies and procedures.
About you:
Level 2 Learner Support Certificate or equivalent or/ willing to work towards
Educated to Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE Equivalent)
Experience of providing support to individuals in an educational setting
Experience of using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint)
Experience of working with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
An understanding of working with adult learners
