Ideally candidate to work 4.5days onsite Senior Mechanical Engineer – Avionics & Engine Sensors We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team, designing and developing cutting-edge avionics products and robust engine sensors. Based at our site in Fareham, this is a site-based role with the flexibility to work from home one day a week when work permits. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing structured engineering solutions across the entire product development lifecycle. You will manage your own work and lead allocated resources to meet technical, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with internal and external aerospace customers, suppliers, and engineering teams across mechanical, systems, and hardware disciplines to deliver innovative solutions. Take ownership of formal mechanical engineering requirements, ensuring compliance through validation, design description, and verification methods such as testing, inspection, and analysis. Estimate, plan, and proactively track work progress to support project managers and meet deadlines. Lead cross-functional teams on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and product improvements, acting as a subject matter expert in mechanical engineering. Mentor and support apprentices, graduate engineers, and non-senior engineers, fostering growth within the team. Drive continuous improvement in mechanical processes, tools, and ways of working, ensuring efficiency within industry regulations. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with the following: A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Design, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability to lead mechanical engineering teams, delivering high-quality, compliant designs on time. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management. Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D draughting with GD&T expertise, ideally using SolidWorks or AutoCAD Inventor. Experience with configuration control, change management systems, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Capability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines efficiently. Desirable Skills Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) FEA. Familiarity with large datasets and tools such as MathCAD, Minitab, or Python. Knowledge of the PPAP process and associated documentation.
