JOB TITLE: Azure Infrastructure Engineer
SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £45,954 - £51,060
LOCATION: Edinburgh
HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
In your role as Azure Engineer, within the infrastructure team, you’ll lead in the management and deployment of Microsoft based server and cloud solutions for the group. You’ll be responsible for the design and maintenance of new technology as well as providing 3rd line support for existing systems and related technology. Your workload will be based on support tickets raised in our IT Service Desk system and involving you supporting staff over the phone, via email and face-to-face to resolve their hardware and software related issues. Please note this is a support/engineer Infrastructure role and not DevOps!
What will I be doing?
1. Be a specialist in Azure architecture, products and services
2. Delivery of proactive continual improvement through technical assessment including business risk, resilience, capacity and availability of services hosted within the environment
3. Responsible for the design and delivery of new Azure infrastructure, on premise and hybrid solutions
4. Management of the Hybrid cloud infrastructure including servers, storage, security and virtualization
5. Providing solid documentation of systems and architecture, design, configuration and testing evidence
6. Providing technical leadership and guidance to peers within your areas of expertise
7. Management of desktop builds/images where integration with server infrastructure is required
8. Providing support for complex queries relating to infrastructure issues
9. Prioritisation of tasks, requests and incidents in accordance with agreed service levels

What you’ll need
1. Experienced in the design and implementation of MS Azure based services including ADFS, Virtualisation, SaaS and PaaS
2. Experience of the implementation and management of resilient services including load balancing, availability sets, geo-redundancy, Azure system updates
3. Experience of Azure DR and backup solutions
4. Experience of Office365 interoperability preferably to an SME level
5. Solid experience of managing on-premise and hybrid server solutions
6. Experience of deploying and/or integrating PC based technologies within Windows (e.g. Direct Access, Bitlocker)
7. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Log Analytics experience. Ability to interpret and analyse data.
