ROLE To provide a service as a member of the Well-being/Complementary therapy Team and practise the therapies which have been agreed, in accordance with the policies of Farleigh Hospice. PERSON SPECIFICATION Patient, reliable and understanding Very good IT skills A good listener Friendly and empathetic Effective oral/written communication, interpersonal skills Ability to work as a member of a team and individually Willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service Eagerness and ability to learn new skills quickly Understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries Ability to deal with different people and situations sensitively and appropriately, remaining calm and polite at all times Awareness of own response to death, dying and bereavement KEY TASKS (not exclusively) Carry out Complementary Therapy treatments with patients and carers in line with Farleigh Hospice policies and procedures Be aware of the patient’s diagnosis, treatment, care and current condition Be aware of contraindications or precautions in relation to the therapy(ies) that you practise and be able to adapt a treatment accordingly Complete the required documentation Provide feedback, including any adverse effects, to the patient’s Key Worker and the Well-being/Complementary therapy Co-ordinator Participate in clinical supervision with the Well-being/Complementary therapy Co-ordinator as agreed Be able to work empathically with patients and carers in distress Because of the nature of the work at Farleigh you will need to be prepared to address searching questions regarding death and dying on a personal level PROFESSIONAL Hold a recognised professional qualification in the complementary therapy(ies) you will practise at Farleigh and hold current registration with a recognised professional body Have significant recent post qualification professional practice Maintain professional development to facilitate the provision of an evidence -based service To participate in any audit, evaluation or research of the complementary therapy service Be able to work empathically with patients and carers in distress This post is subject to enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance To apply for the role, please click HERE Thank you for contributing to the valuable work at Farleigh Hospice.
