Increasing to: £28,000 in year 2, £34,000 in year 3 and £40,000 in year 4
Working week
You will initially work Monday to Friday 8.30 am - 5.00 pm, however in future there will be an element of shift working. Days and shifts are to be confirmed but may require an element of evening and weekend working depending on which team you join.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Youll learn how to maintain machinery and equipment and find and resolve faults to optimise production levels.
The role will include conducting planned and predictive maintenance to prevent issues occurring, as well as reactive maintenance, responding to breakdowns. You will also contribute to the installation and decommissioning of equipment.
Work as part of a team or alone, depending on the task - On a daily basis you will interact with other technicians and engineers, as well as with operational and site teams, and colleagues from Technical, Development, Finance & Planning.
Be a part of technical performance reviews and continuous improvement activities.
You will learn how to employ engineering practices that ensure food safety in line with food safety legislation, keeping machinery and equipment running to meet production needs and outputs.
Ensure that our practices comply with food safety, health and safety, environmental, sustainability, and engineering regulations and standards, as well as taking account of business operation considerations such as cost and service level agreements.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be provided with full support and training in order to kick start your career into becoming a future leader of Engineering in Bakkavor.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
At the end of your programme, if you have successfully completed your apprenticeship and achieved the performance targets that we have set for you, you are guaranteed a permanent role with us.

What qualifications or qualities are required?:
Five national 5s including English, Maths at a B or above and a Science or Technical Subject (Math should be Maths and not Applications of Maths).
Things to consider
The work environment can be cold and noisy (for which PPE will be provided) and will entail being inside for long periods of time. However, it is also a very positive place to work and the experience gained will be invaluable for the future and will give you your first steps into manufacturing.
