WHAT IS ON OFFER Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a two year Graduate Chemist Programme, working within our Group Laboratory Support Team at our Main Laboratory in Liverpool, UK in September 2025. During your programme, you will spend time in our different laboratories. We will equip you with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience in the wide range of analytical services and techniques we operate. You will provide support to our Group Laboratory Support Management Team and support on added value business projects. On successful completion of the programme, you will be assigned to one of our operational or technical laboratory business units. The Graduate Programme consists of 4 phases: Phase 1 - (3 months) you will complete the company induction programme which is a mixture of classroom and practical based activities during which time you will learn about AHK: our values, what we do, who we are and where in the world we are. This is primarily an office based phase learning the Quality support and regional structure of our laboratories. Phase 2 - (1 year) In this phase you will move into our UK laboratories. You will receive on the job training within the one or two key departments, you will be given your own work and projects to complete. Phase 3 - (9 months) During this phase you will have gained exposure to the analysis carried out in the different departments within our state of the art laboratories. You will have a six month placement in one of our global locations to strengthen your global understanding of AHK. Phase 4 - The company is entrepreneurial and dynamic and we will expect you to want to drive your own career. Towards the end of the programme we will discuss what opportunities we have available that fit your strengths. Required Work Experience Previous internship or initial professional work experience in a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential. Understanding of statistics of analytical chemistry, method validation, quality control. Understanding of any of the following analytical techniques is desirable but not essential – AAS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, CIC, IR Combustion, Titration, EDXRF, WDXRF, Fire Assay, OES. Competence in Microsoft Office, Google suite, and project management applications. Required Qualifications BSC (Hons) Inorganic Chemistry or Chemistry related discipline. A Masters degree is desirable but not required. Required Languages Fluent English. An additional language is advantageous.
