We have an exciting opportunity for an Approved Fitter (Gas/Plumbing) to join the University’s Commercial Services and Estates Maintenance department on a full time and ongoing basis. You will provide reactive maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) service to all stakeholders at the University for mechanical gas fitting/plumbing work and ensure compliance with statutory legislation and regulatory requirements. As Approved Fitter you can expect to be involved in: You will be responsible for the quality of all specific works you have undertaken, and the day-to-day planning and prioritising of your own workload so you will need the ability to make independent decisions where appropriate based on trade, specialist knowledge and experiences. You will perform mechanical maintenance and out of hour’s rota callout work on a wide range of university multipurpose buildings, which are used for student, staff and visitors so you will need to show flexibility regarding your working hours. What will you bring to the role? Registered Apprenticeship in Plumbing or Mechanical services discipline or significant demonstrable experience to an equivalent level City & Guilds level 3 or equivalent qualification in Plumbing, Gas or Mechanical services discipline Gas Safe: CCNI Domestic Core Safety, CENWAT — Central heating boilers and water heaters, CKRI — Domestic cookers, CPA1 – Combustion performance analysis Gas Safe: COCN1, CIGA1 & ICPN1 - commercial gas. TPCP1A - Testing & Purging - commercial gas, or willing to undertake training to achieve Gas Safe: COCN1, CIGA1 & ICPN1 - commercial gas Proven experience working as a mechanical fitter/plumber in a maintenance environment Ability to accurately record information electronically using basic IT skills and in writing Excellent customer service skills What we can offer in return: As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing.
