Cover Supervisor/ HLTA
Prospero Teaching is working with a SEN/SEMH School that deals with students with additional needs and mental health issues. The pupils are aged 11-16 years old (KS3/4 secondary) and all have EHCP plans.
Your role is to build a connection with the young people, acting as a mentor and role model while leading classes and organizing tasks throughout the day. You must have a strong background as a cover supervisor, TA, or tutor with students from PRUs or SEMH schools.
Due to the barriers the pupils face in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with them. You will use mentoring skills (similar to those used in sports, drama, and counseling) to help individuals engage with school, supporting them both in and out of the classroom on a more vocational basis.
The position is open to all experienced candidates with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school may consider extending the contract or offering a permanent position.
