About The Role
We are looking for an Assistant Technical Officer to join our Planning Processing Unit (PPU) within the Planning department. The role provides technical and administrative support for the Development Management Section dealing with all aspects relating to planning applications.
The main duties of the role will include:
* the registration of planning applications
* technical and administrative support to officers within Development Management
* assisting members of the public with general planning enquiries
* validating new planning applications in accordance with national and local requirements

About You
We are looking for someone with some knowledge of Planning Regulation legislation, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn. The work is mostly process driven, so you will need to be able to identify and resolve problems, be organised, flexible, and communicative, whilst working both independently, as well as part of a larger team. You will have excellent customer care skills, together with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
You will assist the Business Support Team to interrogate and develop the planning data. This may involve some coding, learning how to download and manipulate data, and presenting using Power BI. Some experience or training on any of these elements is desirable.
