We are looking for a thoughtful, compassionate and innovative highly specialist (Principal) Practitioner Psychologist with expertise in health care provision for adults living with health conditions. This role will include team lead responsibilities for a team of practitioner psychologists working with adult oncology and haematology patients. It will also involve shared responsibilities for the leadership of a new multidisciplinary service delivering holistic care to people impacted by the infected blood inquiry. Provision will include clinical services, research and quality improvement including dissemination, and training and consultation to other partner services and agencies. Close working with partnership organisations will be a feature of the role.

Main duties of the job
1. Highly Specialist clinical care and leadership, to ensure the systematic provision of a psychology service to adult haematology and oncology patients and those eligible for the Infected Blood Psychology Service.
2. Training, clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.
3. Joint working, consultation, training and service development activities.
4. Research relating to service delivery.
5. Management and supervision of staff.

* Post qualification experience of working as a specialist practitioner clinical psychologist with adults with physical health needs in a variety of settings
* Post qualification experience of working as a specialist practitioner clinical psychologist providing psychological consultation, case management supervision and training to a range of multi-professional and multi-agency teams within a physical health specialty
* Formal teaching / presentation sessions to health and other professionals
* Demonstrable understanding of the implications of life changing illness and or disability for patients and their families as applicable in haematology and oncology
* Demonstrable understanding of the roles of a highly specialist practitioner clinical psychologist within a network / programme lead role in relation to the patient, their family, the multi professional staff team(s) and the organisation
Skills and Abilities
Essential
* Ability to assess the complex psychological needs of young people/ adults and their families, including the use of cognitive and developmental psychometric tests
* Ability to generate systemic and individual psychological formulations and interventions based on applying psychological theories and models to the complex information generated by the patient, their family, health, education and social care systems as applicable
* Advanced communication skills with the ability to provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information to and from patients and their families in a developmentally and culturally appropriate manner in highly emotive situations.
* Ability to access, record and manage information and data pertaining to the work undertaken in medical and psychology notes, data bases and electronic records as required
* Ability to prioritise and manage available time for clinical, managerial and professional activities effectively and safely
* Able to travel to regional clinics, meetings and home visits if required
Qualifications and Training
Essential
* Current registration as a Practitioner (Clinical / Counselling/ Health) Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent if trained before 1996).
Desirable
* Training in the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists / other staff
* Management/leadership training
