The Angus Mental Health Peer Support service provides peer support around mental health and wellbeing. The service is available to adults and young people aged 11+ (who attend high school) and are registered at GP practices in North Angus. The service provides a maximum of three sessions and is aimed at those with less complex needs.
Peer support is defined as the help and support that people with lived experience of poor mental health and wellbeing can provide for others facing similar challenges. The peer workers are based in GP practices across North Angus (Forfar, Kirriemuir, Edzell, Brechin, and Montrose).
As part of Angus's tiered approach to mental health services, the peer support service is at level one, providing information, advice, access to self-help and self-management strategies, and signposting.
The Role
The peer worker will provide one-to-one support and work as part of an integrated team within the surgeries, providing timely access to information, advice, guidance, tools, and self-management strategies to those referred to the service.
