As we continue to expand our global presence, Copius group are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious quantity surveyor/commercial manager to join our team. This role offers the prospect for international travel, professional growth, and the opportunity to work on some of the most prestigious projects in the Data Centre, renewables & power generation industries.
As QS you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful completion of our projects by managing costs, budget, and contracts. Your expertise in quantity surveying will contribute to the financial efficiency and overall success of our endeavours.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labour, equipment, plant, and overheads.
* Monitor and manage project budgets throughout all phases of construction, identifying cost saving opportunities and potential overruns.
* Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings, maintaining comprehensive records of quantities and measurements.
* Assist in the preparation of tender documents and contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards.
* Evaluate and negotiate contract terms, variations, and claims, and administer contracts to ensure all parties adhere to their obligations.
* Analyse and report on project expenditures, identifying cost deviations and recommending corrective action.
* Collaborate with project teams to explore cost effective alternatives and value engineering solutions without compromising quality.
* Maintain accurate and up to date records of all cost-related documents and prepare regular cost reports for project stakeholders.
* Ensure that construction work meets quality standards and specifications.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience as a quantity surveyor in construction projects.
* Strong background in civils and mechanical and engineering (M&E).
* Flexible and willing to travel internationally; a valid passport is essential.
* Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
* Detail-oriented with an elevated level of accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information
* Location: Initially based in our offices in either Belfast, Northern Ireland or Belmullet Co Mayo with regular onsite visits and international travel opportunities.
* Hours: 8.00am – 4pm Monday – Friday (Fridays working from home).
