This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse post on an acute 24 bedded Vascular Surgery ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital, as part of the Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
We welcome newly qualified or experienced Band 6 Staff Nurses who have a keen interest in Vascular nursing, and enjoy working closely with the multidisciplinary team to aid the patient's recovery. There will be exciting opportunities for development and training as the ward continually strives to excel in its speciality.
Job responsibilities
1. Promote effective interpersonal relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring a good team spirit and collaborative working practices.
2. Co-ordinate the surgical unit on a regular basis, ensuring all resources are used effectively and efficiently.
3. Deputize for the ward manager in her absence, demonstrating a sound problem-solving approach to clinical and management issues.
4. Identify nursing/patient needs with the multi-disciplinary team, assisting colleagues and advising on patient care issues.
5. Facilitate ward projects, audits, and quality initiatives in collaboration with senior staff.
6. Be proactive in undertaking specific responsibilities as delegated by the ward manager.
7. Ensure all staff use equipment, supplies, disposables, and staffing resources appropriately.
8. Report and act on untoward incidents such as complaints, clinical emergencies, injury, or drug administration errors.
9. Implement health and safety regulations that apply to staff and patients in the clinical area.
10. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of budgetary restrictions and their implications.
11. Be involved with developing and implementing local departmental policies, educating and supporting junior staff.
12. Facilitate the implementation of Trust policies, providing training and support for staff.
13. Demonstrate an awareness of organizational and governmental policies and agendas.
14. Ensure implementation of the Organisational zero tolerance policy and support junior staff.
15. Ensure that all patients, members of staff, and visitors to the ward are treated with equality and respect.
