Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Derbyshire, Darley Abbey
Salary: £30,000 - £50,000/annum
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join a well-established technology company who are at the forefront of control system design, install, and commission in automated sortation.
They are looking to strengthen their team with an Electrical Design Engineer. The right candidate will take ownership of the electrical design for the ongoing development of new and existing systems. The role will involve the performance of electrical design activities associated with the delivery of projects to end users and partners, from project launch to handover on site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Interpret design input information to produce electrical control panel/system designs based on the current ISO, EN, and BS standards.
2. Production of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design/safety specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, installation designs, and drawings.
3. Design & production of electrical layouts & schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools.
4. Procurement of electrical equipment including control panels and field devices.
5. Liaise with suppliers on technical matters.
6. Ongoing management of Bill of Materials to support project and spares procurement.
7. Preparation and ongoing management of manufacturing documentation and technical files.
8. Participate in design reviews, new project meetings, and customer-facing meetings.
9. Providing technical support to other departments, as required.
10. To understand and apply relevant design, regulatory, and industrial standards.
11. Operate in accordance with the company’s ISO 9001 policy.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have/Be:
1. Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related relevant discipline.
2. Prior experience working in a similar role, including electrical design and commissioning within an automation-based industry, ideally within the automated warehouse industry.
3. Familiar with 415v motor drive systems, soft starts, and inverter drives.
4. Familiar with 24v DC motor drive systems.
5. Familiar with industrial sensor technology, both digital and analogue, and interfacing of the same to the control system(s) either directly or via appropriate fieldbus IO standards.
6. Previous use of CAD tools (AutoCAD electrical).
7. Working knowledge of relevant standards governing the controls automation industry.
8. Familiar with the latest safety systems and standards.
9. Conversant with AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Project, Outlook.
