Sussex Teachers are working in partnership with a small community primary school in Brighton to find a Teaching Assistant to join their team in January 2025. This inner-city school is looking for a full-time Learning Support Assistant / Classroom Assistant to join their happy and friendly year 1 class for the Spring term.
You will be joining a school ‘with a big heart’, with a community feel that embodies the diverse culture of Brighton city centre. You will be working with teaching professionals who value freedom of expression (children don’t wear school uniforms) and relationships are built on mutual respect (first names are used for all students, staff, and parents). Due to its town-centre location, the school is easily accessed by public transport, situated a 10-minute walk from Brighton train station or a 3-minute walk from Churchill Square bus stops.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting infants aged 5 – 6 years within the classroom, you will play a vital role in nurturing children’s love of learning. Teaching essential skills in Phonics, Literacy and Numeracy you will support children’s academic foundations in a creative and engaging way.
* Collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
* Support children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
* Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the class are engaged and participating.
* Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the class.
Requirements
* Experience working with children, ideally in a school or similar setting.
* Understanding of SEND and strategies to support children with additional needs.
