The HR team plays a key role in supporting the organisation to deliver high performance through its people. As we work towards changes across the rail industry and continue to value rail within our communities, we need to ensure that people decision making is at the heart of GWR.
About the job?
Reporting to the Head of Strategic HR Business Partnering, you will assume responsibility for driving the People Agenda within a defined area of GWR. Leading on key initiatives and programmes including talent and development planning, inclusive culture, customer experience focus, inspiring leaders, agile organisation and wellbeing; you will partner with key Heads of and Directors at GWR, and working closely with senior leaders and managers, to ensure our people are considered during key business decision making.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Drive the people agenda within your allocated business area to ensure delivery of business objectives
* Partner with Senior Managers within the business to identify key business goals and integrate HR into the strategic direction, planning and operation of the function
* Advising, facilitating and coordinating to ensure compliance in key HR service requirements, with appropriate leadership team
* Monitoring the effectiveness of functional HR delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing solutions in line with current best practice
* Work with and feedback to HR Centres of Excellence to ensure delivery of the people strategy
* Implementing organisation HR initiatives and leading functional organisation change including advising on organisation changes and making appropriate recommendations
* Use business insights to drive change in people management practices and provide key MI and analysis of information
* Coach Senior Managers on how best to deliver solutions within business area ensuring managers increase skills and capabilities
You'll need to be:
* Able to demonstrate a track record of collaborative working with, senior managers, line managers and HR colleagues
* A proactive problem solver seeking to resolve people related issues in the relevant business unit
* Able to coach at a senior manager level
* Have an understanding for data analytics as well as people skills to support decision making
As a minimum, you will need to have:
* CIPD qualified or part qualified, or equivalent experience in a similar role
* Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
* Knowledge, and practical experience of HR procedures, processes and practices
* Strong presentation and computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
About the location?
We work in a hybrid manner, however some travel across our network and to GWR offices will be required.
Working Pattern?
37 hours a week. We would also welcome conversations on flexibility of working arrangements and days. Due to the nature of the role there will be some travel will be involved across the GWR network.
