Job Description
Our graduate mechanical engineers are helping to solve new challenges in smart ways. You'll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in designing and delivering sustainable solutions.
As part of your application, we will ask you to select your preferred opportunity based on the sector and location. For some of our opportunities, French or Spanish language skills are desirable. Some of our opportunities will require you to be eligible to achieve security clearance, which is dictated by the types of projects we work on and normally requires you to be a UK British national or lived in the UK for five years or more.
Sectors
Energy
With our experts, you’ll be responsible for bringing sustainable energy solutions to both UK and global projects. You’ll be working on large scale projects, including:
* Hydropower: Supporting the development of landmark hydro projects worldwide, providing flexibility and integrating with other renewable sources.
* Thermal Generation: Ensuring reliable capacity in the transition to sustainable forms of energy.
* Oil & Gas: Helping clients deliver efficient projects within a rapidly changing sector, requiring instrumentation or electrical engineering graduates.
* Nuclear: Contributing to safe and carbon-free nuclear power, a critical pillar in future clean energy.
Transport
* Rail Systems: Learning from a team with deep expertise in various rail network systems, such as track design, signalling, telecoms, and SCADA.
* Rolling Stock: Supporting clients in railway operations, maintenance, and depot design.
* Tunnel Systems: Planning and designing mechanical systems for road, rail, metro, and utility tunnels, including ventilation, fire suppression, drainage, and station integration.
Water
You’ll be working with specialists that contribute to essential projects such as the Thames Tideway Scheme. Teams work on water pumping solutions, clean and wastewater treatment plants, and pipelines.

Candidate Specification
We are looking for committed and motivated graduates with a passion for making a difference. To be eligible for this opportunity, candidates must:
* Have less than 12 months relevant experience (excluding placements).
* Have obtained a degree no earlier than 2023 or are expected to achieve one in mechanical engineering or a similar subject.
* Hold a bachelor’s degree as a minimum; some opportunities may also require a master’s degree (reflected in the list of available opportunities).
Additionally, graduates should demonstrate interest in the role through relevant experience (such as studying relevant modules or previous work experience) and possess the following characteristics:
* Methodical approach to problem-solving.
* Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
* Excellent verbal communication skills.
* Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

Visa Information
Mott MacDonald Ltd. is currently not offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route (due to changes in UK Government regulations starting in April 2024).
