The Deputy Director will lead the strategic delivery and planning of Therapies and Health Sciences, ensuring they are responsive to need and enable the delivery of Health Board objectives. Within the role, the post holder will be accountable for:
1. Professional Leadership of Therapies and Health Sciences.
2. Leadership, advice, and guidance to services in relation to Therapies and Health Science staffing requirements, including leading the professional input into workforce planning, establishments, and skill mix.
3. Strategic development and planning of the services, ensuring the formulation and implementation of strategic plans, ensuring they are responsive to changing needs.
4. Providing strategic advice to the Director of Therapies and Health Science Services and the Board.
5. Development of strategic plans for diagnostics, point of care testing, sensory loss standards, and clinical informatics.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Director will operate independently, providing expert and high-level clinical advice, complying with professional codes of conduct, regulation, organisational policies, and procedures, and interpreting their application within the Health Board. Chair relevant committees on behalf of the Executive Director and participate in a range of corporate committees. Engage with senior clinical colleagues in the delivery of the Directorate Plan and Powys Strategy, encompassing a visionary approach in alignment with the organisational objectives and values. Provide the Executive Director with routine high-quality reports focusing on aspects of delivery against objectives and the delegated portfolio. Provide leadership and direction where highly complex ideas or concepts need to be conveyed and implemented across the organisation. This will include working collaboratively with other professions within the organisation, particularly operational leads, ensuring expert advice in respect of Therapies Services, facilitating consensus building and decision making where there is likely to be a range of options and differing opinions. Exercising high-level judgement and autonomy in decision making, providing specialist knowledge across a range of professions and managerial procedures and practices relating to professional practice and the management of Therapy Services. This will include the analysis and assessment of conflicting information where expert opinion may differ or information may not be viable, relying on judgement and critical thinking to deliver an appropriate outcome. Working collaboratively at all times with all other leaders, managers and stakeholders in order to achieve high-quality services and high-performance standards, routinely working across a wide range of professional departments with complex and differing needs and expectations as well as external partners such as Social Care and Third Sector. Providing and developing a positive working environment and open culture which fosters high morale and commitment amongst all staff and promotes their wellbeing, professional and personal development and is in line with the Health Board expected Values and Behaviours. Participation in the Executive On-Call rota.

* Professional qualification as an AHP or as a Health Care Scientist.
* Extensive and current experience of working at a senior clinical level in an NHS organisation.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Significant experience of successful development and delivery of service improvement, with successful management of significant organisational change in a complex environment.
* Experience of collaborative working across agencies and experience of planning, strategy production and service improvement.
* Experience of managing budgets and delivering cost improvement programmes.
* Experience of professional leadership of AHPs and Health Care Scientists.

* Silver IQT.
