Wakefield To undertake the operational engineering of pre-planned maintenance and minor works activities, assisting with planning and resourcing of direct and subcontract labour, ensuring that all aspects of health and safety are adhered to. Supervision and/or periodic site visits of site-based staff and site activities, to ensure that work is undertaken correctly, is progressing to agreed timescales and to be the point of contact for all engineering queries. Your New Job Principle Accountabilities: Work with all staff and clients to ensure that works are completed both on time and to the correct specifications and standards. Arrange the delivery of pre-planned maintenance activities on HV & LV Electrical Distribution networks, including review and agreeing outage requirements with the client, planning resources and ensuring all RAMS and SSOW documents are prepared ahead of the works. Engineering the delivery of minor works activities on HV & LV Electrical Distribution networks, including but not limited to ACB retrofits, HV protection upgrades, switchgear/transformer refurbishments, HV cable fault rectifications etc, including review and agreeing outage requirements with the client, planning resources and ensuring all RAMS and SSOW documents are prepared ahead of the works. Responding to client emergency call outs and working with Ipsum’s on call team, ensuring quick response times to minimise clients power down time, and to manage and communicate technical requirements and associated costs with the Ipsum Project Manager and clients site engineers, ensuring positive client, internal and third party expectations are met. A focus on delivering quick turnaround minor works and call out activities, with an emphasis on quickly identifying and procuring material, labour and subcontract requirements. To pro-actively generate leads and opportunities for the expansion of the service provision of Ipsum Power (Private Networks) Ltd. To react to other leads from existing customers or in-house. Ability to upsell the HV/LV services to existing customers. Produce RAMS and SSoW documentation, and ensuring job packs are produced to a high standard to enable all site activities are commenced timely and with no delays. Review design documentation and produce bill of quantities and arrange procurement of plant, materials and equipment. Undertake site visits to ensure ongoing works are advancing in alinement with schedules/programmes, ensuring Ipsum and client satisfaction and any risks are identified and mitigated. Communicate with Ipsum Project Managers, Planners, Site Teams and clients as required to assist in the delivery of both new and ongoing works. Liaise with Ipsum Planning Team for labour requirements when required for Projects and Maintenance work. Provide Engineering support to the Planning and Projects Team. Plan the procurement and delivery of materials (to site and office locations) and subcontract activities, that is required for Maintenance and Minor works activities. Technical review and monitoring of Ipsum approved sub-contractors. Ensure all maintenance and test documentation is collated and issued to clients in a timely manner. Conduct service/project site inspections against internal requirements (minimum one per month) Health and Safety Implement IPSUM Power (Private Networks) Ltd safety rules, instructions, and procedures. Actively monitor teams within your line management responsibility of Engineers Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out at all stages of a project (design, planning, generic and Daily On Site). Conduct site safety inspections and complete associated paperwork. Ensure that accidents and near misses are suitably reported, recorded and investigated and that remedial action is carried out promptly. Report any concerns regarding SHEQ to the Head of SHEQ Power and your Line Manager. Senior Accountabilities: Carry out regular skill reviews with engineers to better understand training requirements for assigned engineers, and be a vocal point for Site Engineers, Planners and Project Managers, assisting with technical issues where needed. Required Qualifications & Professional Membership(s): NVQ Level 3 Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent Knowledge & Experience: Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation. Detailed understanding of current HV/ LV electrical installation techniques. Good knowledge of HV & LV switchgear, transformers and power assets in Electrical Distribution networks. Solid and up to date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation and technical advances. Good knowledge of Health and Safety practice and Risk Assessment.
