The Senior Research and Development Director Advanced Staining Reagents is responsible for leading a strategically important global strategy, for the development, growth and successful execution of complex, Advanced Staining Assays, Reagents, and Companion Diagnostics (CDx). Positioning LBS as a leading-edge cancer diagnostics partner with a vision to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives. This position is part of the Research and Development (R&D) team located in Newcastle, UK, and will be an on-site, position. You will be a part of the Advanced Staining Reagents (ASR) Leadership team and report to the Vice President Advanced Staining Reagents, in this role you are responsible for developing strategies and tactics aimed at realizing the commercial potential of the full Advanced Assays and Reagents portfolio against the highest EHS standards. In 2024 LBS opened Danaher's first CAP CLIA lab which serves as a hub for collaborative research with leading pharmaceutical and academic institutions, we also opened a new Centre for Enabling Precision Medicine which is home to our R&D teams a state-of-the-art building on our campus in Newcastle, UK. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Drive execution of strategies through a team of highly experienced individuals, who successfully deliver, complex high classification projects from ideation stage to commercially viable products across detection and reagent portfolios. Lead the development of technology, establish partnerships and the strategies in order to execute project roadmaps - including covering IHC, ISH RNA and DNA Assays, Detection, Reagents, and CDx for Leica Biosystems. Working alongside colleagues in LBS to help pave the way for a new era of AI-enabled CDx assays. Build collaborative partnerships within Danaher Diagnostics team to leverage the capabilities of our Centre's for Enabling Precision Medicine. You will also partner with LBS Business Units, Sales Units as well as Innovation, Business Development and Companion Diagnostics teams to assess potential opportunities in the marketplace. The essential requirements of the job include: - Significant experience Leading complex R&D Strategy, development, growth, and successful execution of complex high classification programs including CDx - Experience in working with emerging, innovative products and creating market demand for products and services - Previous experience in histopathology, and pathology imaging staining - Ability to lead a diverse highly skilled R&D team - Experience working within the FDA and BSI regulatory environment - Relationships with global key opinion leaders at the highest level It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: - Troubleshooting complex scientific/technical problems - Building strong external alliances, leveraging relationships and market visibility channels in adjacent industries - A global matrix work environment This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay and comprehensive package of benefits.
