Description About the Team
Based in Registration & Revalidation Operations within the Professional Regulation directorate, the Registration Investigation Team are responsible for undertaking and concluding case investigations into health and character concerns regarding applications to join, re-join or remain on the register, including; Initial Applications, Revalidation, Readmission, Restoration, Incorrect / Fraudulent Entries to the register, and Protection of Title allegations, so that the NMC fulfils its statutory obligation to protect the public, and that only those who meet our registration requirements are admitted to the register.
About the role
As senior manager, youll be responsible for leading a team of 16 staff in a fast-paced and busy environment at an exciting time as we transition and embed our new team structure, in addition to developing our responses to emerging fraud threats. Youll provide leadership, guidance and direction to two team managers to ensure, alongside consistent delivery of excellent customer service, achievement of key performance indicators, that sound decisions are made based on NMC legislation and policy, and that our high-quality risk-based investigations meet NMC evidential requirements and enables the NMC to fulfil its statutory duty.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for a candidate with:
* The ability to lead, manage and motivate a team, modelling excellent people management and leadership to create an environment and culture for colleagues so everyone can be at their best and where they have opportunities to succeed and thrive.
* Significant analytical and investigative experience of conducting and leading proportionate investigations, and management of a caseload of cases under investigation
* Experience of the use of management information to monitor and identify adherence to targets and preparation of reports.
* Experience of managing and implementing changes to operational processes and systems.
* The ability to understand and explain complex policy and legislation to internal and external stakeholders.

The role you are applying for is a flexible role, and whilst you will be posted initially to a team, this may require movement between teams as the flow of work dictates. You will of course understand that this flexible approach enables us to provide the best possible service to our registrants and reach the outcomes to our cases quickly and within a reasonable timeframe. This will not change your terms and conditions and will be discussed with you prior to you taking up the post.
Successful candidates will be appointed to a particular NMC Office, but you may be required to travel to other NMC locations, that are reasonable daily commute from your home office.

Our Pay Policy
It is expected that staff new to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band. However in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a salary above the bottom of the relevant pay band but we may request proof of current earnings. Please note that we offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach. Further details of which are available on request.
