What will the role look like?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging and creative person who can join our Better Together team to deliver activities, outreach and groups that aim to reduce health inequalities in some of the most deprived areas of West Leeds. You will join our team of community engagement workers and be committed to improving people’s wellbeing by bringing people together and developing groups e.g. arts and crafts, jobs clubs, health/exercise groups, environmental initiatives. A key part of the role is embedding health promotion messages into groups and outreach activities to key messages to people who may be isolated.
You will work alongside different organisations in West Leeds, have a knowledge of Asset Based Community Development and help empower other services to deliver and sustain activities you develop. You will be required to provide some 1-1 support to people that engage in your groups. You will be expected to work at community events from time to time which may include some weekend/evening working. The service is funded through public health and you will be required to be flexible and support any initiatives and health promotion campaigns as requested by public health as necessary.
