Person specification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING
Essential criteria
1. A professional mental health qualification e.g.: RMN, BSc/Diploma in OT Chartered Clinical Psychologist
2. A current registration with a professional body i.e. NMC; HCPC.
3. Trained and registered as an Approved Clinician
4. Masters level qualification in health / social care or demonstrable equivalent experience, supplemented by specialist training and/or experience to doctorate level or equivalent
5. Independent and supplementary prescribing qualification
6. Awareness of harassment, social exclusion issues and the effects of person and institutional discrimination
7. Knowledge/awareness of relevant legislation and guidance including the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS), The Community Care Act (1990), The Human Rights Act (1998)
8. Skills in assessing, planning and evaluating mental health care/treatment interventions
9. Expertise in psychosocial interventions, including relapse signatures and relapse prevention plans
10. Skills in interacting therapeutically with patients who have a range of presenting problems
11. Skills in co-ordinating complex care packages
12. An ability to work independently and within a team

13. Advanced physical healthcare assessment qualification
14. Therapeutic psychological interventions qualification
JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
15. Minimum of 5 years post professional qualifying clinical experience in their current profession, and working at a senior clinical position (Band 7 and above
16. Experience of engaging in service development activities
17. Evidence of promoting research, evidence-based practice, clinical excellence and quality approaches to support outcome focussed care
18. Experience in facilitating learning within clinical practice
19. Ability to clinically assess mental disorder and to knowledgeably apply the statutory criteria for the key decision reserved to the RC
20. Minimum six months experience working as an AC/RC
Desirable criteria
21. Experience of working with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies
ANALYTICAL & JUDGEMENTAL SKILLS
Essential criteria
22. Ability to administer and interpret a range of evidence based/standardised assessment tools
23. Ability to analyse complex information to solve problems and draw conclusions
24. Imagination, determination and a questioning attitude
25. An ability to assimilate new concepts and approaches to care
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
26. Evidence of leading effectively at a senior level in a multi-disciplinary health and social care setting (mental health)
27. Experience of managing, supervising and supporting teams
Desirable criteria
28. Previous experience of the full range of line management responsibilities, including attendance management, discipline and grievance, management of recruitment & selection, personal and career development.
FINANCE/RESOURCES
Desirable criteria
29. Experience of managing budgets or having direct involvement in how money is spent to improve services
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/RESOURCES
Essential criteria
30. Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional, academic and public settings
31. An ability to use the internet, email and basic word-processing skills.
