Position: Learning Support Assistant Location: Totton, Southampton Salary: £13.86 per hour Age Range: 4-18 years, primary and secondary sites Type: Full-time, Permanent Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join the team at a specialist school catering for children aged 4-18 with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties. The majority of the students also have co-occurring needs, such as autism, Down syndrome, and some physical disabilities. You will support students throughought their school days which can involve classroom learning, outside play, sensory room time, time in the hydropool, arrival and pick up with parents and lunch times. Key Responsibilities: Support students across both primary and secondary school sites (preference for primary or secondary site can be considered). Provide tailored support for students with a range of complex needs. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Be involved in the use of school facilities, such as sensory rooms and the hydro pool. Help manage students’ individual care and emotional needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. The Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (desirable but not essential). A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students with a range of complex needs. Flexibility to work across both primary and secondary sites (with preference considered). Willingness to engage in activities such as hydrotherapy or using sensory rooms. Ability to work well in a team and contribute to a positive, supportive learning environment.
