Project Manager Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (with potential travel to Australia and worldwide) Job Purpose: As a Project Manager you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional project performance for our clients and the business. You will oversee the execution and delivery of projects from inception to completion, ensuring a strong focus on quality, cost, and timely delivery. Your responsibilities will include leading technical and commercial discussions, managing procurement processes, and ensuring seamless shipping of products. Key Responsibilities: Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) Management: Monitor and report on QCD performance for projects ranging from small orders (£100k) to major programs (£20m) within the defense sector. Customer Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, facilitating face-to-face meetings globally as needed. Documentation Management: Create and maintain essential project documents, including Project Management Plans, Schedules, Supplier Management Plans, Risk Management Plans, and Work Breakdown Structures. Budget Oversight: Collaborate with the Principal PM to manage project budgets, identifying and addressing any shortfalls or opportunities. Reporting: Produce clear, concise reports, meeting minutes, and action plans to keep stakeholders informed. Procurement Management: Generate RFQs and requisitions for component procurement, including supplier identification, auditing, and management. Risk Management: Identify and escalate potential risks to the Principal Project Manager promptly. Team Collaboration: Motivate and encourage team members, ensuring effective communication regarding project status and challenges. Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in the development and enhancement of the Project Team. Deputy Responsibilities: Step in for the Principal PM during internal and customer meetings as needed. Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned. Skills and Experience: Technical Background: A degree in a relevant technical field is essential, with the ability to present technical issues and solutions confidently. Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with heavy to medium manufacturing processes is advantageous. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and collaborative skills are a must. Technical Writing: Proficient in producing high-quality technical documentation. Defense Sector Understanding: Knowledge of the defense industry is beneficial. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks. Customer Engagement: Ability to engage pragmatically with customers and stakeholders, comfortable with virtual meetings. IT Proficiency: Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software. Self-Motivated: Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. Team Player: Proven track record of meeting timelines in a collaborative environment. Customer-Facing Confidence: Ability to generate enthusiasm and maintain a positive attitude in customer interactions. Personal Attributes: Valid UK driving license. Ability to obtain necessary security clearances as a defense contractor. Eligibility to secure a visa for work in Australia. Working Conditions: This role is primarily office-based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with potential travel across the UK and internationally, including extended periods in Australia.
