Site Agent!
Location: Suffolk
Salary: Up to £70,000 + Package
ARC Group is excited to be on the look out for a Site Agent to join our clients team in Suffolk. We are seeking candidates with a Civil Engineering background and experience in earthworks, drainage, communication ducts, and pavement construction, preferably within a highways context.
In this prominent Tier 1 environment, you will need to demonstrate a strong focus on health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The ideal candidate should be self-driven, possess a positive attitude, communicate effectively, lead assertively, work well under pressure, and build collaborative relationships.
As a Site Agent, you will oversee a diverse team responsible for executing various civil engineering work packages, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards according to the clients management system and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health, Safety, and Environment
Provide strong, proactive leadership in maintaining health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Contribute to the achievement of the clients safety targets and uphold a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe practices.
Establish and implement site systems and controls in line with company standards and project requirements.
Ensure that risk assessments and method statements are produced and communicated to site supervision.
Promote Behavioural Safety programme and support the reporting of hazards and best practices.
Advocate for the health and wellbeing of all staff and frontline workers.
2. Programme and Production
Contribute to value engineering and assess the buildability of the project.
Collaborate with planners and production teams to agree on construction methods and schedules.
Monitor and control resource requirements, production outputs, and overhead targets.
Conduct thorough analyses of resourced programmes and create operational target programmes that align with the overall contract timeline.
Lead short-term planning and effectively communicate these plans to the site team and supply chain.
3. Operational Excellence
Provide effective leadership and management for your team.
Organise resources for the overall control and execution of works, including the selection of subcontractors when necessary.
Ensure the procurement of materials and equipment meets specifications and planned work schedules while managing waste effectively.
Ensure that RAMS, ITPs, and MARs are approved before work begins, and that all testing procedures are established and followed.
Oversee all permitting and approvals.
Identify temporary works requirements and manage the production of accurate temporary works designs.
Ensure project quality standards and handover requirements are met, with timely production and resolution of non-conformance reports.
Experience and Knowledge:
1. Significant experience in Civil Engineering with a strong technical background.
2. Proven experience in constructing all aspects of highway works.
3. Knowledge of CDM Regulations and their implementation.
4. Familiarity with specifications and testing regimes relevant to civil engineering and highway works.
5. Ability to produce RAMS, Task Briefing Sheets, and safe systems of work, along with knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental systems.
6. Experience managing a small team and demonstrating strong organisational skills.
Qualifications:
1. Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related field.
2. Desirable: Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent.
3. IOSH Managing Safely certification.
4. SMSTS and valid CSCS card.
5. Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator qualification is preferred.
6. First Aid and Fire Marshall certifications are advantageous.
7. Fit for work medical or safety-critical medical certification is desirable.
