Scope The engineering team within Gloucester are responsible for landing gear integration activities for Long Range, A350, UK Military and Commuter programmes. Furthermore, the team conduct Research and Technology projects for both the Landing Gear Integration Division and Transverse organisation. The Gloucester site supports all stages of the landing gear lifecycle with development, test, production, assembly, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities on site. The Systems Engineering team, which are part of the Systems Integration and Test Department, deliver all systems integration, safety and reliability, and performance and dynamics activities to Gloucester programmes along with support to other sites and divisions.
Responsibilities
As Systems Engineer, you will work on landing gear systems development programmes including Research & Technology projects. You'll ensure that all requirements are properly defined, validated, verified and flowed down to internal and external suppliers. You will define and manage the systems development process to ensure that the Landing Gear Systems design meets its requirements on schedule. Key aspects of this job include the following:
* Integration of mechanical and/or hydraulic systems on the Landing Gear
* Plan the engineering activities alongside the Engineering Group Leader and Programme Chief Engineer to ensure successful development certification of the landing gear system
* Technical oversight of equipment supplier requirements, liaising with the supplier to ensure projects progress as planned
* Generate all System/Equipment Requirements Definitions, Validation Matrices, Verification Matrices and other deliverables required by the Validation & Verification process
* Writing Declarations of Design Performance documentation
Required skills
* Liaise with other engineering functions to generate and validate requirements for a major modification to an in-service landing gear programme
* Working within the systems integration team, you will understand the product breakdown structure along with the verification means and evidence used to previously certify the product
* Liaising with the Design and Analysis, and Performance and Dynamics teams you will appreciate the design process undertaken, the flow of information and key design drivers
* Considering any requirement updates, you will work with the Safety and Reliability engineers to assess and communicate the impact of the changes to existing and new designs
* Dependent on the duration of the secondment you may be able to undertake performance and dynamics, and or safety analysis for the modification
* Work alongside the SAI team to help deliver early requirements and architecture concepts to new bids
* Understand the flow down of information from SAI to the systems integration team
* Aid the architect in liaising between the different divisions to understand the functional allocation and integration activities
Preferred skills Degree qualified in an engineering discipline is required or with the relevant experience to be successful in the role.
