Job Overview We are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer for a full-time, hybrid role based in the Northwest but with international travel globally. The successful candidate will take on the responsibility for developing and commissioning automation control systems, specifically material handling, focusing on PLC programming. In this role, you will design and implement automated systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance. The position provides flexibility for global travel on a regular basis. Key Duties: Design and build automated material handling systems using PLCs, handling all aspects from hardware selection to programming and system integration. Use EPLAN to produce electrical diagrams to assist the manufacturing team. Configure and program managed network switches, including tasks such as setting up VLANs, controlling port access, ensuring redundancy, and monitoring system performance. Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues in integrated systems to minimize downtime. Provide on-site technical support to engineers during the installation and commissioning of systems. Ensure detailed records of PLC code and system setups are properly documented. Stay informed about the latest developments in PLC programming and automation technologies Essential Skills and Experience: Over 5 years of experience in automation, particularly in material handling systems. Strong expertise in Siemens S7 Tia Portal and similar programming tools. Proficiency in E-Plan software for electrical schematic design. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Solid communication and teamwork capabilities. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related disciplines preferred. Willingness and ability to travel globally as required.
