The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
Cancer Services are growing our workforce due to increasing demand within the service. We look forward to receiving applications from keen people who would like to join our friendly team at this exciting time of development.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive candidate to join the Cancer Services MDT Team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) in the role of Cancer Pathway Coordinators. The successful applicant will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) but required to work cross site when necessary.
The Cancer Pathway Coordinator plays an essential role to ensure timely management of patients with suspected and/or diagnosed cancer, highlighting potential breaches of national cancer standards and taking appropriate escalation actions to ensure the Trust can achieve the national and local cancer targets.
The successful applicant will be patient-focused; have excellent communication and organisational skills; be familiar with all of the Trust's computer systems including Somerset and have excellent IT skills including Excel. Previous experience of administrative work including data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting is essential; however, working in a cancer services team with a comprehension of the Cancer Waiting Times rules would be preferable. The successful applicant will require resilience to deal with the fast pace of the role and the emotional and sometimes distressing nature of cancer.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will also be expected to coordinate Cancer MDT meetings across the range of tumour groups and assist in the collation of essential data for upload to national databases. The ability to work accurately and record/type clinical outcomes 'live' at the Cancer MDT meetings is essential.
The post holder will manage the coordination and management of the tracking of patients along clinical cancer pathways. This will include managing the flow of information received from primary and secondary care and tertiary centres and liaising with internal departments and external organisations involved in providing cancer care.
