Job Advert Role Description
We have an excellent full time opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist on our Male PICU unit at Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital
Set within picturesque landscaped gardens in Cheadle, Stockport, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of our service is to help people to live their best life in a safe and supportive environment. The hospital is located in a suburban area, close to Manchester.
Our PICU services have been designed to support people in a severe phase of their condition, who cannot be managed in acute services. Our dedicated PICU services place us at the forefront of specialised intensive care, and our highly trained teams can support people with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge, along with co-existing issues (such as substance misuse).
The post is supported by a full time Specialty Doctor or Advanced Practitioner and the post holder will be working within a full Multidisciplinary Team.
The role will include:
Clinical:
1. Working as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the MDT
2. Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Timely assessment of referrals along with the MDT
4. Conducting Comprehensive Assessments and Treatment Planning with patients, external stake holders and carers.
5. Chairing MDT/CPA Meetings; Adhering to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures.
6. Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries.
7. To contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership.
8. Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings alongside giving evidence within these meetings.
9. Participate in a non-resident second on call out of hour’s rota with a frequency of no more than 1:7
Management:
10. Offering Clinical Leadership in collaboration with Ward Manager
11. Ensuring Ward is complaint with Organisational and Regulatory requirements
12. Attending ward governance meetings with ward manager
13. Working with organisational quality improvement (QPIs) initiatives
14. Attending Monthly governance meetings.
Academic:
15. Attending monthly Academic meeting’s
16. Case presentations and teaching
17. Participation in audit, research, quality improvement initiatives
Post requirements:
18. MBBS or Equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych with s12/AC approval
19. Full GMC registration with license to practice
20. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
21. Committed to continued professional development
22. Desirable to have had significant experience of inpatient mental health acute units.
23. Able to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
