Description West Suffolk Council, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3YU £39,513 - £44,711 per annum, plus excellent employee benefits package 37 hours per week Full Time Permanent Reference: 0996 About the role: This is an exciting opportunity to work across all functions of the Policy, Projects and Performance team, using your ‘can do’ approach and your strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to help make a difference in local communities in West Suffolk. The Policy, Projects and Performance team play a central role in providing high quality policy, strategy, performance management and project support to councillors, the Chief Executive, leadership team and service areas. Our aim is to improve how projects and policies are developed and implemented, so as to ensure residents and businesses are supported in the best way possible, and the council is best placed to face future challenges. As a Policy, Projects and Performance Business Partner, each day is different. One day, you may be using your communication skills to support the delivery of the council’s strategic priorities for example net zero and effective regulation. Another day, you could be doing research into how other councils address an issue and designing a consultation exercise to seek the views of residents. Or you may be collating data on performance and giving strategic advice to a service area about how they can continue to improve the service provided for residents and businesses. What you need: As well as providing support across the team and being an important link between all areas. You will also have opportunities to be involved in council-wide work for example providing advice on current topics such as devolution and the future of local government and responding to Government consultations and in county-wide initiatives through Suffolk-wide working. Working alongside four other business partners in a wider team of 10 you will need to be a great team player who is quick-thinking, flexible, loves a challenge and has a real interest in problem solving and creative thinking.
